You can order 5 items a day through Nook Shopping and can send items to your friends who don't have the cards. So you have to scan in all 6 to be able to buy all the new items. Soon as you scan in a character that characters items are available to buy through Nook Shopping. No risk of loosing another villager you like. Get to pick who you want to move off of the island to make room for them. Only then will they ask if they should move onto your island. You have to call the villager over to your island 3 times and give them they items they want. If you are new to Amiibo Cards for Animal Crossing. They worked with Animal Crossing: New Horizons and I was able to get all the new items and the new characters moved on to my island.
